Default Superb Charr Carvings Farm - WORKING builds (Rt solo, any character dualhench)

250 Superb Charr Carvings are used to obtain this mask:

They are dropped by Charr in Charr homelands. One of the focus is the Charr Seeker groups just west of the exit of Doomlore Shrine.

Why solofarming, if Charr Carvings are lootscaled? Well most people dont understand how the lootscaling works apparently.
If you kill something in a group, the drops are divided by the number of players in the group. So you have an 1/8th chance of getting something. If your group is smaller, things tend to drop less, but this is not 8 times less, its more likely 2-3 times. So effectively, you have a 4 times higher chance of getting Superb Charr Carvings.
Furthermore, if you farm with AoE damage, you wont see as much drops as you would with 1 by 1 kills. If you kill Charr 1 by 1, it is not unlikely that every Charr drops a Carving, just seconds after the other.

Right, lets get to the builds:

SOLO Rt/anything (Spirit Striker)

Just put up all spirits before aggroing the Charrs, use Gaze of Fury on a fast recharging spirit and recast that one. Cast Anguish last. Keep energy high with Offering of Spirit.
Now the attack, cast Painfull Bond followed by Summon Spirits and just strafe left and right, dodging most of the arrows. Or try hiding behind the big rock.
BTW: this is also my main PvE Rit build, it is excellent against higher armored monsters, since it does 236 armor ignoring damage every volley of attacks. Try to use height as your advantage, they can attack from 2.5 bubble radius if high enough.
The downside, no real self healing or ability to take less damage, beside dodging and hiding. (which is actually enough)

DUAL Anything + bonder hench
Get a hench with Mending, Life Bond, Life Barrier, Succor, Watchfull Spirit and perhaps Retribution. Disable all of the skills with Shift + click. Also add Blessed Signet for energy, but dont disable.
Get to the devourer on the planes, find a build of ur profession that can solo it. (55 monk for example, or make the hench bond u) Force the Charr out, heal the devourer and steal it from him. Make the hench bond the devourer and start whipping at the Charr. You can pretty much kill any 4 man Charr group, but u have to be somewhat proficient at using the skills.
You can exit the zone, but dont go to inside a town, and you will remain inside your Devourer.
The downside, the Devourer seems to be bugged at some times, making it hard to move or attack proper. Also the hench would 'steal' drops.

DUAL Anything + bonder hench
Same technique as above, just with a Raven, Volfen or Ursan blessing. Havent tested it myself, but it might be enough.

SOLO E/A Shadow Form PBAoE Nuker
SF works good against Charr Seekers, only thing that actually hurts you is the Ignite Arrows AoE dmg. But you should be (theoretically) able to kill them before they hurt you too badly. I havent got my ele there yet and dont have SF, but it would be nice if someone tested it.

SOLO N/? (for example N/Me) SS/Price of Failure
This works with hiding behind the rock, as shown in the first picture. It will make them miss, triggering Price of Failure, SS, Empathy and some other skills. You can interrupt their Troll with the Mesmer line skills.
I havent gotten to testing this yet, not my Necro in that area yet.
The advantage of this being fast is, that the rock with the 6 Charr Seekers is about 5 steps away from the exit of the area, so you can quickly repeat the process. Also almost always you only aggro 2 Charr at the same time when carefull, so no insane spikes from them.

There are some stationary groups of charr seekers @dalada uplands or what ever it is called. Perhaps those would be possible to take down with 55hp monk or something? Another good is RRagar's Menageries dungeon, where is alot of charrs and alot of superb's drop there.

The Exquisite Charr Carvings are scaled loot, so you'll get the same amount with a full party as with one person.

Just take Herohench, grab a Siege Destroyer (or use the Norn Bear Totem) and get rampaging...

Its not the Exquisite ones, just the Superb ones. Anyway, scaled loot doesnt mean that the scaling is linear. In other words, if you take 8x smaller party, it doesnt mean u get 8x less drops in total. Its more like 3x less drops, but still you wont have to share it with 8 other people. Also another way to get past lootscaling is to kill them 1 by 1 and not with AoE damage that kills them all in the same timeframe. SV versus SS for example.

I think I meant those Seekers in Dalada. Probably the best bet, though wasnt sure where i saw them and wether or not they were part of a quest.

Anyway, killing Charr fast is really easy with a group, u dont need a Siege Devourer. I myself am monk, and usually play with H/H teams. I've noticed that foes really concentrate 90% of their fire on me, which can be really easily exploited.

Just taking PS + Spirit Bond + SoA or Shielding Hands and both hench monks. Flag the heroes to stand still just before aggroing a group and run in to melee range, while making sure u have those enchantments on you.
Now all Charrs will stay in a very compact group, and it is time to call in the airstrike. Release the H/H team, preferably with 3x SF eles. They will make short work (3-5 seconds) of whole Charr Tribes, even if there are 20 or more of them.

3x SF move a lot faster than Siege Devourers and prob also outdamage them.

I just hope that someone else has found any good places or perhaps quests with lots of Charr of just one type.

BTW, theres also that quest from Eye of the North town, and u have to kill 5 groups or so of a bunch of charrs. They are easy to kill, but I'm not sure if they drop Exquisite Carvings or not, since some of them are lvl 8 as well.

I think only the level 20s drop them but they do drop there at a really decreased rate, not worth it in my opinion.

The only prob in the charr seekers in dalada upplands, tried with normal Mo/D SoJ 55hp, is that they hit really, really hard. 2 of them hit you same time without SoA or SH -> Dead 55hp monk. Also, they have troll unguent so SoJ doesn't kill them even effectively, and they also have Burning Arrow so nice degens. Perhaps Mo/N Spoil victor could do it. But did I mention? They have savage shot also. So some hard beasts there. But go from Doomlore Shrine to right, there is atleast 3 group of only charr seekers.

There is a quest given from Articefer Mullinex in the eye of the north, that spawns 50+ charr outside Gunnars hold.

Even though there are a lot of low levels mixed inbetween, there are lvl 20's that are easily 55 farmed, I think, I havent tried. But im sure if you dont take the reward, the quest is easy, quick, etc.

Lol... :S

trying to farm 55/SV of 4 Seekers actually caused my game to crash 2 times. Never happened before.... must be the wrath of Anet.

You can kill any char group using:

Hero Monk:
Life Barrier [e], Life Bond, Balth's Spirit, Mending, Watchful Spirit, Blessed Sig

You:
Siege Devourer
Siege, run up and use the melee attack, then use the knockdown, then siege again (One of the char usually sits a bit further back, aim to siege him and you will hit them all).
Healing comes from corpses.

Have fun!

Yerh, thats what I'm talking about. I was thinking about something similar, but without the Devourer, but this might be better.

Thanks.

I was looking at Siege Devourer damage yesterday and found out your weapon affects their damage. If you are ranged, the Siege Devourer is ranged 2. With daggers you doublestrike and with a Scythe you hit multiple targets with normal attacks.

Don't forget that weapon speed affects their attack speed, so daggers (if you want close combat) means that in addition to double strike you'll attack a bit faster than with, say, a sword.

Daggers arent faster then swords, only they have a chance of dualstriking. Anyway the damage from daggers is 40 and axes/swords is 55, so it doesnt really matter i think. Scythes are 35 and bows are 40 too i think.

I tested the SS/Price of Failure build and it works quite well. Here is a video that I made based off of it.

If you're using a Mo/D 55 build, why not use [skill]Signet of mystic Wrath[/skill]?

Can't go wrong there.

[skill]Signet of Mystic Wrath[/skill] does a whopping 100 damage every 22 seconds to one foe. That's a staggering 4.54 DPS. I am quite sure there are much better options in both Monk and Dervish lines. Granted, most of those require you to be next to your foe, but even [skill]Smite[/skill] does more DPS than Mystic Wrath, and it's no longer an attack or projectile. [skill]Holy Strike[/skill] + [skill]Shield of Judgment[/skill] for example is an obvious combo.

Aight, Mrxaero, thanks for the vid. It really shows the place which I meant for the farm.

I worked on another build, also with help of the Necro line. I run it on my monk, but it doesnt need any profession, only on a Necro it would be a bit stronger.

Awaken the Blood + Spoil Victor = 115 dmg each shot, 230 if they use Dual shot
Necrosis for getting their health down even further. (mine does 90 dmg every 2 secs)
You move like a Dwarf = usefull KD + interrupt for Troll Unguent

This really makes them drop like flies. Ofcourse you really need to have 55 health to be effective with this.

They dropped about 1-3 every run at the start, but after a while they almost stopped dropping. Maybe every 4-5 runs one would eventually drop. I dont know if this is any antifarming code. I thought these codes were removed when HM was added?

Therefor Ive added the 4 Seeker patrol to my farm route, maybe a little change will give them time to replenish their inventory and carve some more statuettes. U can kill them from the ledge above them, to the far left of it.

hi

i tried to farm the charr solo with ranger and its possible /devourer)

u need no monk hench for this and can be done with ranger primary or secondary class.

u need only "burning arrow (elite), zojuns haste, dodge and pin down, troll.

run to the devourer on the dalada ups and do the shot and run tactic.

arrow + pin down and run, then enter the devoerer, kill the char and go to the near portal to grothmar. then return to dalada and kill the 6 charr behind the stone, no monk needed. if your life is too low, leave the dev. and enter again, your life will be full. after doing that enter the portal and do the same again, like u can see in the youtube link above my post.

greets

i can take some screens if anyone need it.

first: go the devourer on the dalada homelands and "kill" him

walk to the nearest portal, there are 6 charrs arround a stone, kill them 1 by 1, interrupt troll urgent.

after this go trough the portal and repeat the killing of the charrs.

sometimex veal is in your group, then go back and return until hes out.
